HOPE Sustainability Conference and Event Series 2023

Jane Goodall is back in Hungary!

Dr. Jane Goodall, the world-renowned primatologist, researcher of chimpanzee life, and UN Goodwill Ambassador will visit Hungary in May. The University of Pannonia was honored to organize the HOPE program series to welcome the nature and environmental activist.

In connection with the visit of the world-famous ethologist Jane Goodall to Hungary, the "Days of Hope" will be held in Veszprém from May 7-11, 2023.

HOPE: Heritage, Obligation, Planet, Environment. Four days – four questions, each calling for the protection of our planet: What can we know? What can we do? What can we hope for? The answer to the fourth question is the answer to all of them: What is human?

Science is available, community is a value, our environment is a treasure.

The guest of honor of the event

Dr. Jane is more than a researcher. Jane Goodall was one of the first to observe chimpanzees in the wild. Thanks to her, we found out that we have much more in common than we ever thought.

After several decades of work as a chimpanzee researcher, she noticed the seriousness of the environmental problems surrounding us, and since then she travels 300 days a year in order to draw the attention of as many people as possible to the fact that we must change our environmentally damaging habits together.

She pays particular attention to the environmental education of young people, since they are the future. During her travels, she always takes the time to meet enthusiastic young people. She has already managed to inspire many young people, who became members of the project-based Jane Goodall's Roots & Shoots program, which is also popular in Hungary. Dr. Goodall is a legendary scientist, environmentalist, and humanitarian who gives us hope every day and inspires us to turn hope into action and make a difference for animals, people, and our environment.

University of Pannonia

The mission of the University of Pannonia is to be an active participant in the shaping of a livable future through its internationally recognized training, research and development activities related to sustainability.

We exist to display our knowledge, scientific competence and relationships in products and services that improve intellectual development, quality of life and social well-being. Our series of events aims to reflect on the various challenges of sustainability, with the involvement of internationally and domestically recognized experts. Our goal is to address each target group with the right message, to offer programs that are thought-provoking and encouraging.

Jane Goodall Institute

The HOPE Sustainability Conference and Event Series would not have been possible without the Hungarian Jane Goodall Institute.

Dr. Jane Goodall established the Jane Goodall Institute in 1977 to protect chimpanzees and their habitat. Since then, the Jane Goodall Institute has been established in more than 27 countries around the world, and the global network includes a total of more than 110 countries. In 1991, as a sign of her faith and hope in youth, Dr. Goodall launched the Roots & Shoots environmental education program, whose members have been reducing the burden on our planet every day through active environmental protection programs. Over the years, the organization has outgrown its initial objectives, and its work so far has been supplemented with African and domestic animal protection, nature conservation and humanitarian projects. Among other things, we launched Chimpanzee Adoption and the Gems for Life project, but our nationwide Year of the Gorilla 2009 campaign and our active program to support domestic animal shelters have also become widely known.
