HOPE Conference
The University of Pannonia is located in the Central and Western Transdanubia Region.
Our multidisciplinary university offers courses in the fields of humanities, economics, technical IT, education, social and natural sciences, and conducts a wide range of research activities.
The mission of Pannon University is to be an active participant in the shaping of a livable future through its internationally recognized training and research and development activities related to sustainability, covering several scientific fields.
We exist to display our knowledge, scientific competence and relationships in products and services that improve intellectual development, quality of life and social well-being. Our series of events aims to reflect on the various challenges of sustainability, with the involvement of internationally and domestically recognized experts. Our goal is to address each target group with the right message, to offer thought-provoking programs.
The institution has five faculties, in addition to Veszprém, our teaching locations are also available in Nagykanizsa, Zalaegerszeg and Kőszeg. The active student life, the Veszprém University Days with a decades-old history, sports events and university parties all strengthen the experience of community belonging.
Science is available, community is a value, our environment is a treasure.
Jane Goodall Institute
Dr. Jane Goodall established the Jane Goodall Institute in 1977 to protect chimpanzees and their habitat. Since then, the Jane Goodall Institute has been established in more than 27 countries around the world, and the global network includes a total of more than 110 countries. In 1991, as a sign of his faith and hope in youth, Dr. Goodall launched the Roots & Shoots environmental education program, whose members have been reducing the burden on our planet every day through active environmental protection programs.
The organizations of the global network aim to protect animals, the environment and fellow humans in Africa and many other areas of the world. The young and old working in the organizations all work with great effort and enthusiasm for a common goal, a better and more livable future.
In Hungary, in 2006, with the participation of Jane Goodall, the Roots & Shoots Association was established, which then set as its primary goal the strengthening of environmental education in Hungary. The programs of numerous festivals and events for children and young people have been and are enriched by the projects of the Roots & Shoots Association, we actively support environmental education in school and outside of school (Recycle Bag Program, Frog Rescue) and every year the Association organizes Dr. Jane Goodall's visit to Hungary full of colorful programs.
Over the years, the organization has outgrown its initial objectives, and its work so far has been supplemented with African and domestic animal protection, nature conservation and humanitarian projects. Among other things, we launched Chimpanzee Adoption and the Gems for Life project, but our nationwide Year of the Gorilla 2009 campaign and our active program to support domestic animal shelters have also become widely known. The year 2010 will be an important milestone in the life of the Association, as the Roots & Shoots Association will now continue its activities under the name of the Jane Goodall Institute.
