The book of hope – a round table discussion
"A true hero." – this is how Greta Thunberg succinctly characterizes the book's author, Jane Goodall. A hero full of hope. I wonder what the author hopes for. What gives us reason for hope when talking about such serious topics as the fate of our planet, nature and human in it? Approaching her ninetieth birthday, Jane Goodall does believe in a better future, because she believes in nature, and what's more: in human nature.

Upon the proposal of the rector, the senate of the higher education institution may award an honorary doctorate (Doctor Honoris Causa) or an honorary doctorate and professorship (Doctor et Professor Honoris Causa) to a person who, based on the provisions of the doctoral regulations, has become worthy of the title in that discipline, after seeking the opinion of the University Doctoral and Habilitation Council, in which the higher education institution is entitled to award a doctoral degree.
The University can award deserving domestic and foreign persons as honorary doctors (doctor honoris causa). The honorary title can be earned through internationally recognized academic work and activities for the benefit of the university. The award may be initiated by the Faculties of the University.
A maximum of as many honorary doctorate titles as the number of university faculties can be awarded each year. The title of honorary professor (Professor Honoris Causa) is the highest award that can be given to external persons – who were not professors of the University during their career – which is presented to the senate by the chancellor on the proposal of the deans. The title can be awarded for outstanding scientific achievement, widely recognized worldwide, or for work of epoch-making importance in higher education and scientific public life. One award can be given each year, which Jane Goodall will receive in 2023.
